Key Innovations
Pashu Sakhi (Livestock Nurse Model)

Livestock Farmers’ School
An informal village-based learning platform where goat-rearing families engage in problem-solving experiments, using Audio Visual tools and games. Facilitators guide farmers in adopting improved practices through evidence-based experimentation and peer learning.

Kid Nursery
Trained women entrepreneurs rear high-quality goat kids under semi-stall-fed systems. The model ensures a reliable supply of improved goats and bucks for breeding and market purposes, while generating income for women rearers.

Live Body Weight Marketing
A transparent, standardized goat pricing system based on live body weight. It benefits both farmers and traders by reducing exploitation, enabling informed decisions, encouraging quality-based pricing, and increasing trust in goat trade.

Goat Breed Improvement through Artificial Insemination
A scientific breeding initiative using frozen semen from superior bucks to enhance the productivity and genetic potential of goats. Includes mapping of elite animals, castration of poor-quality males, infertility management, and use of Kid Nurseries to conserve quality germplasm.

Bakari Bank
A no-pressure goat leasing system for poor farmers. It enables ownership without upfront costs, reduces financial risk due to shared mortality burden, and supports gradual income generation and asset building for landless families.

Community Insurance
A locally managed mutual risk-sharing system where community members contribute to a common fund. It provides financial support to affected families during livestock losses and fosters solidarity and resilience within the community.

Solar-Powered Mini Rural Hatchery
A decentralized poultry incubation unit run on solar energy, enabling farmers to hatch duck or chicken eggs on rent. This reduces dependency on electricity and empowers rural entrepreneurs through hatchery-based microenterprises.

Mobile Dung Testing & Deworming Support
The Goat Trust runs a fee-based mobile worm testing lab that collects dung samples from goat farmers. Along with testing, awareness videos are shown to educate on the harm caused by internal parasites. Based on microscopic results, deworming is advised when needed. The service promotes low-cost parasite control using natural methods like neem leaves, turmeric, mustard oil, and rotational grazing.

Goat Dung Manure Commercialization
Despite its high agricultural value, goat dung often goes unused—especially among landless goat rearers. The Goat Trust is working to turn this waste into wealth by linking rural dung availability with the growing demand in urban gardening and agriculture markets, creating an income stream from what was once waste.
Meat on Wheel
This innovative initiative ensures the delivery of hygienic and fresh goat meat directly to consumers via mobile vans with cold-chain facilities. It connects rural producers to urban markets, upholds clean meat processing standards, and generates rural employment—especially for youth.

Televet Services
An upgraded 12×7 call-based veterinary support system with multilingual and text-to-speech features. Digital Pashu Sakhies conduct home visits, record health data, and consult remote veterinarians for timely diagnosis and treatment, minimizing disease-related losses and improving animal care access.

PashuMart
A one-stop livestock shop at the block level offering feed, mineral mixtures, herbal supplements, tools, and expert advice. It also serves as a marketing platform for live animals, helping farmers access essential inputs and technical support.

Community Livestock Trade Center
A localized aggregation and quarantine center managed by trained Pashu Sakhies. Livestock are examined, vaccinated, and kept under observation before being supplied to buyers—ensuring health safety and traceability in livestock trade.
